William McBride

My name is William McBride and I've had a love for playing the drums since I was 2 years old. I would sit in church and focus solely on the drummer. Shortly after turning nine in June 2012, I became the fill-in drummer for the church, playing at rehearsals and evening services. In January 2013, I became the full-time drummer at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I participated in band class throughout middle and high school. Because I played the drum set at church, my high school band director encouraged me to play the multi-tenor drum. Throughout my high school career, I improved not only my skill set but also my leadership skills. I became section leader in the tenth grade and remained until I graduated. I also maintained my position as the full-time church drummer until going to Norfolk State University where I am currently majoring in music education.
